  1. This was purchased for my son and his wife. He has all black appliances so this coffee maker looked great in his kitchen.

We’ve had the 12-cup Mr Coffee (simple style) for less than a year. The warming plate just quit warming, so we’re in the market for another maker.

At this point, we’ll go with another one of these $20+ models, since our experience with more expensive models of different brands shows that no manufacturer seems to get much longevity from drip makers.

If you are a coffee drinker needing no bells and whistles, this machine is for you. I don’t ask much from a $20 coffee pot except a decent cup of coffee. This Mr. Coffee delivers, and its design is a step up from our previous one. It would be nice if the company worked on a carafe that pours without spilling though. I have never purchased any Mr. Coffee machines, cheap or expensive, that poured well. Having owned other brands, I know it’s not the person pouring. Other than that, no problems.

I recently purchased this coffee maker after my last one started to go downhill and am happy with my purchase. This is definitely a no frills, basic 12 cup coffeemaker but it works great, its easy to clean and it looks fine on the counter.

I have the white one that is identical to this one. I really regret buying this coffee maker, save yourself grief and mess and run away!

I thought the “hot plastic” smell would never go away, it has diminished over the last 4 weeks or so, but we still can smell it sometimes. The ON light is very dim, if you look for it you can see it, if you’re close enough. No automatic shut off, none is advertised either, it is still a good feature considering it is difficult to tell if it is on or not. As cheap as this thing is, I unplug it anyway, just to be safe.

The worst thing is that the Carafe has a design flaw–it dribbles coffee. Ugh, what a MESS! The spout looks like it was dropped on its head when the glass was formed, all pushed in, the curvature is just WRONG for pouring. What idiot engineer designed this? Did they think it was “cute” or were they just “physics-ly” challenged?

[If I'd realized it was a "Sunbeam-Oster" product I wouldn't have bought it in the first place, having run into misery causing "design flaws" on all of their other products that I've owned and ended up despising, namely a humidifier that couldn't be cleaned and a toaster that had impossibly tiny crumb slots in the bottom.]

Other than these problems, and issues with a gigantic lid cover that you have to pull the coffee maker clear of any upper cabinets to open, and the dirty unclean-able water/coffee chamber that is under that enormous lid, it does spit hot water into a filter basket of coffee and a noticeably bitter brew results. And it was cheap. I guess that rates the one star.
